1) Can you please introduce yourself?

I'm Bryce Street, I am 22 years old, I live in Brisbane, Australia and my occupation here is as a professional cricketer with the Qld Bulls

2) With which activity does our club know you?

As some of you may know I have been an overseas player/coach for HCC for the last 2 years. I was intending to again come back for 3rd season this year but unfortunately it was not to be.

3) Did you expect that the Corona epidemic would have such a huge impact in life, sport and our club?

No, when I first heard about the epidemic that was plaguing the Wuhan province of China I didn't think it would become what it has now. It's touched every corner of the globe and has probably affected everyone across the globe in some way or another.

4) What do you and your fellow human beings undertake to resist the crisis (sport / private / business)?

COVID-19 has had a rather large impact on my life as an athlete. Firstly the last game of our season (beginning 16th of March) was cancelled due to the fact that teams would have to fly to play games interstate, and then the Sheffield Shield Final was cancelled, which was very big and sent a message about how seriously this was being taken. There was no more training as a squad and all fitness has to now be done individually at home.

Our annual awards night was cancelled as well.

As a person, being in lockdown is quite tough, not being able to see friends (unless they want to play golf with me) and only being to leave the house under essential circumstances is not ideal but necessary to combat this virus. Done a lot of cleaning around the house and board games and PlayStation have made a strong appearance the last several weeks.

And of course due to airport closure and border lockdown I will not be able to travel to Den Haag and play for HCC, which is quite a big loss for me as I was very much looking forward to it.

5) And how does that deviate from the life you lived before?

Well I hate being inside and I love training or playing cricket, so not being able to train for the last month has been boring. I will normally just grab a bat and shadow bat and imagine batting and playing a game just because I can't help myself.

7) Many sports channels seem to broadcast memorable events nowadays. Which event in our club (in relation to sport or otherwise) would you like to bring up?

Probably the HCC 2nd team winning the Eerste Klasse last season (“kampioenen!!”) .

That was a special moment to follow (we were playing at Sparta so we couldn't watch unfortunately) but seeing the footage of the final wicket and the ensuing celebration was a great moment for me and the club as a whole.

8) With which person would you like to have the first drink when our clubhouse would be re-opened? Why?

Good question, not much of a drinker but I'll definitely be having a beverage the next time in the HCC bar. I'm not gonna pick a single person, but I would like the whole first and second team there and the board of HCC

I've become close with everyone involved at the so I want to see everyone again when I can.

9) Do you have a general hint, tip or recommendation to the members and other associated people of our club?

Stay safe, stay healthy and try not to put your needs in front of the safety of everyone around you. I know it's hard but it's how we will beat this coronavirus and make it through this. This is a tough time for some so stay strong this will end.
