It was a beautiful Saturday morning and HCC were ready to take on Rood and Wit. We lost the toss, so we had to field. We were planning on batting. After our captain showed us our positions, Sjoerd and Willem started the game off. Sjoerd took an early one handed catch in the first over: a great start. Then it was Willem’s turn to bowl and he bowled 3 overs while Sjoerd ended up bowling 4 overs. He got one maiden as well. Then Rijnout and Jan Wieger started bowling and both took a wicket. After they had finished bowling the opposition were 60 for 3. Then Daniel and Laurence bowled. Daniel took 2 wickets in 4 overs and Laurence took 1 wicket in 4. After they had bowled Rood and Wit were 85 for 6. Then Max and Sterre bowled: Max bowled a double wicket maiden while Sterre took one wicket in her only over! Also our wicket keeper Ruben made a good start with 2 catches. After our bowling they were all out for 95.

After a very tasty lunch HCC were raring to go. Max and Ruben opened the batting but unfortunately Max was bowled out in the first over. Then Jan Wieger came in and he and Ruben had a partnership of 18 runs. Then Unfortunately Ruben was caught for 6 runs. It was then 20 for 2. Then Laurens came in but he was then bowled after an over. He was followed in by Berend who was then bowled. Things were not going well. Then Daniel came to the crease only to be out LBW. Jan Wieger was caught for 15 runs soon after: a bad loss. Then it was Sjoerd and Willem’s turn, our opening bowlers back together. Could they save us? Sjoerd scored heavily and quickly while Willem took it slower in support. But it was enough: we won. Sjoerd ended up with 38 runs and Willem got 12. Together, they saw us through to victory. In short, a very exciting game.
