Oosterheem E1 – HVV E10: 5-2

Wedstrijdverslag 24 september 2011

This Saturday, our E10s had to travel to Zoetermeer, which in itself proved a bit of a challenge with the A12 being shut down and heavy traffic building up on the secondary roads... Anyway, we all made it on time (very just for some) and this was critical, as the team still has to deal with 2 injured players (Ben and Sem). When we first saw our opponents, there was hope that we will get our first win of the season, as this time, we were not dealing with a “second year E” team.

It all started with a very balanced game, with both Oosterheem and HVV creating good chances. When the break arrived, a 1-1 score proved to be a fair reflection of what was being seen on the pitch. Unfortunately, our boys struggled to maintain the same level of pressure during the second half and the final score of 5-2 sanctioned a deserved win by Oosterheem. Whilst the final score is somehow disappointing, it has to be noted that our boys showed more concentration and resilience than in some previous games. In particular, more attention was given to staying in position and opening the game. Also, our strikers actively participated to defensive efforts when required. Let’s hope now that our injured players will be back shortly to offer our boys some opportunities to rotate during the game, so that they can briefly recuperate (Oosterheem had 2 spare players and they used them effectively). We are getting there and really looking forward to our first win!
