HVV heeft in haar illustere verleden 10 landstitels behaald. Daarom mag HVV naast de profclubs Ajax***, PSV** en Feyenoord * als enige amateurclub van Nederland een ster op shirt en broek dragen. In 2013 bestond  HVV 130 jaar. Ter gelegenheid hiervan initieerde toenmalig voorzitter Maarten Fontein het Sterrentoernooi, een evenement met internationale jeugdteams die gewend zijn om voor prijzen te spelen.

Het toernooi vond de eerste keer plaats op zaterdag 30 maart 2013 en wordt sindsdien jaarlijks gehouden.

HVV won 10 national championships. Therefore HVV wears a star on the football outfit just like professional clubs Ajax***, PSV** and Feyenoord *. HVV is the only amateur club in the Netherlands with a championship star. In 2013 HVV celebrated her 130th anniversary. Therefore chairman of that time Maarten Fontein initiated the Star Tournament ('Sterrentoernooi'), a happening with international youth teams who are used to win awards.

The tournament started Saturday March 30th, 2013 and will be played every year.
