HCC4 verliest nipt van Excelsior 3

Wedstrijdverslag

There are no great men, just great challenges which ordinary men are faced by circumstances to meet.
It was brilliant weather, cool with a gentle wind blowing.
Our captain Chaudry won the toss and elected to bat first. Our openers Hamid Mir and debutant Peter Berg, launched a majestic campaign against Excelsior 3. It started off rather sadly with Hamid being caught behind by the wicket keeper. It was a huge wicket, that put our team under pressure . The only significant partnership established was that of Adeel and Faizal, together they put 80 runs on the scoreboard. Other batting results were: Peter Berg (18), Atif (14) and, Berend (13).
Our bowling on the whole was excellent with wickets for Hamid (3), Hugo and Chaudry (who finally got the stubborn boy out). Other memorable events were two brilliant catches by Berend Hilberts, one by Chaudry and a painful caught and bowled by Wouter. In the end our batting total of 170. In combination with fielding that was in need of improvement this proved insufficient. It would all have been worse if not for our unworldly wicketkeeper (how do you manage to dive that way at your age?).
There is room and need for improvement. The rewards will be immense. After all cricket is more exciting then sex (sometimes) and more thrilling then Harry potter (always).
